If you are looking for reasons to consider moving to the Austin area, you won’t have to look very far.  In fact, the city has received a number of awards and recognition throughout the years for a wide variety of reasons.

Finding a Job in Austin

One of Austin’s strengths is the availability of jobs in the area.  In fact, the Forbes website recognized Austin as the third best place to get a job in 2008.  This is partially due to the fact that it is a great city for new businesses to start up operation.  This was demonstrated in 2007 when MoodysEconomy.com named the city the best place for business in the United States.  In 2006, Expansion Magazine also named the Best Place to Live for Future Business Locations and Entrepreneur.com listed it as the 9th Hot City for Entrepreneurs in 2005.

In addition to offering great job opportunities, Austin residents also enjoy a good standard of living.  In June 2006, it was listed as number four by Expansion Management for Best City in Overall Standard Living.

Growing with its Community

Austin has also been recognized for its massive growth.  In March of 2008, the Forbes website named the city as the Fastest Growing Metross in 2008.  In 2007, Austin was also listed as the #1 in the Country for Economic Development by Business Facilities Magazine.  The city was also named 2nd in cnn.money.com’s list of Top 10 Best Big Cities in the Country. It was also listed in 11th place in 2005 by RunnersWorld as one of the 25 Best Running Cities in America.

Enjoying Recreation and the Outdoors

Austin has many outdoor recreational activities available.  In fact, the city was named one of the 10 Best Places to Live and Boat by Boating Life Magazine in 2007.  In 2006, the city was listed as number 6 in Prevention magazine’s list of Top 10 Cities for Walking.

Austin is also known for its musical opportunities.  In 2006, the Austin City Limits Festival was named as the Festival of the Year by Concert Industry Awards.  The city is also listed on three separate lists from AmericanWay magazine, including its list form “great music towns,” its “sacred ground” list and its “greater bigger-is-better music festivals” list.

Raising a Family

Not only is Austin a great place to find a job and enjoy the outdoors, it was also listed by Family Circle as one of the Top 10 Cities for Families in American in 2007. During that same year, Austin was also included in the list of 100 Best Communities for Young People by America’s Promise.
