Established in 1882 after the Austin and Northwestern Railroad Company sold land to real estate investors, the town of Leander has a rich history in the railroad industry. In fact, the town’s name is in honor of Leander “Catfish” Brown, who was one of the railroad men who helped to complete the railroad line that passed through the area. With its affordable housing options, award-winning schools and exceptional amenities, it is little wonder the community is so highly-sought by those interested in living in the Austin area.
