Despite the general downward trend in the housing market throughout the United States, the Austin Business Journal reports that Texas and other southern states are managing to enjoy a slight increase in sales. 

The Austin Business Journal sites a report released by the National Association of Realtors, which indicated tat the total home sales in the United States fell by 2.2% while home sales in the South have gone up by 0.5%.  The data, which was gathered in August for the month of July, included a number of states considered to be in the South region.  These include:

Austin has quickly emerged as a model city when it comes to green living and green city planning.  Therefore, it should not come as too much of a surprise that one of the city's largest companies, Dell, has also decided to become a little bit greener.

According to a report in the Austin Business Journal, Dell has achieved some impressive new green milestones.  This includes being completely carbon neutral, which the company has managed to do by reducing energy use and using both solar power and wind power energy sources.  In addition, the company has provided financial backing for a major forest preservation project in Madagascar.  This was accomplished when the company paired up with Conservation International in order to help protect 591,000 acres of…

Despite the touch economic times the nation is facing, Austin Business Journal reports that the Austin-Round Rock region is still managing to outperform other parts of the country when it comes to the creation of jobs as well as other economic markers.  The ranking, which was determined by the Milken Institute and Greenstreet Real Estate Partners, considers a variety of different factors when ranking cities throughout the country, including technology growth, job creation and salaries.
