Among these conveniences is the high-end retail shopping center of the Domain, which boasts more than 90 retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton, Macy’s, and retail stores for Tesla Motors, Apple, and Microsoft. The North Austin area is served by the Austin Independent School District (ISD). Students within the diverse district speak over 50 languages, with many families drawn to the area from around the world due to the region’s highly-regarded tech industry. Established in 1881, the Austin ISD serves most of the city of Austin. The district consists of 129 schools, with 84 elementary schools, 18 middle schools and 16 high schools. Among these high schools is Austin High School, which is the oldest high school in the state of Texas. The Austin ISD has continually been rated as Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Agency, with many of its schools being rated Exemplary.
The North Austin area is roughly defined as the area south of Highway 45, north of 2222, west of IH-35 and east of Hwy 620. With its ever-growing population, North Austin has experienced a great deal of expansion over the past two decades. As such, the number of shopping opportunities, restaurants and other conveniences have also grown significantly in recent years. With its ample amenities combined with the many major employers that call the area home, it is no surprise that North Austin is one of the fastest-growing areas in Austin, Texas.
