Dripping Springs, Texas Lifestyle

Due to its location in Texas Hill Country, Dripping Springs provides its residents with access to a variety of natural and historic attractions. Among these is Hamilton Pool, which is a natural grotto located just off of the Pedernales River. The fast-growing town also has a farmer’s market, numerous shops and restaurants, and a variety of conveniences. As a suburb of Austin, the city of Dripping Springs also provide residents with easy access to all of the amenities the Austin area has to offer.

The Dripping Springs community is served by the award-winning Dripping Springs Independent School District (ISD). The district, which serves approximately 5000 students, offers a comprehensive curriculum based on achieving the highest student achievement. The district is only one of seven in the state to be recognized by the AP Board Honor Roll. The school has also received a five-star rating form the Texas Comptroller and has a 99 percent graduation rate, with 93 percent going on to college. The district’s elementary schools include Dripping Springs Elementary School, Walnut Springs Elementary School, Rooster Springs Elementary School, Dripping Springs Middle School and Dripping Springs High School.

Dripping Spring’s modern history dates back to the 1850s, at which time three families moved from Mississippi to Texas. The group came upon the area that is now known as Wallace Mountain and claimed the spot as their home. Despite being located only 30 miles from the capital of Texas, the area was still considered to be a part of the frontier. The first postmaster, John Moss, was appointed on June 5, 1857. It was at this time that the community was officially named Dripping Springs in honor of the dripping springs at a branch of the Edwards Aquifer. The community soon became a stagecoach stop and part of a freight line that ran between Fredericksburg and Austin.

Today, many custom home builders and developers are constructing new homes in the Dripping Springs community in response to growing demand for housing. With its sweet, rural atmosphere and beautiful scenery, Dripping Springs is a great option for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city while still remaining close enough to enjoy all that it has to offer.
