The area is also home to a number of compact green spaces, including the popular Shoal Creek greenbelt.

Children who live in Austin’s downtown condos attend school within the Austin Independent School District (ISD). Established in 1881 and operating 129 schools, the district has consistently been rated as Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Agency. Schools serving the downtown area include Mathews Elementary School, O. Henry Middle School, and Austin High School. All three schools have received high rankings from GreatSchools.com. The oldest high school in the state of Texas, Austin High School serves approximately 2,500 students in grades nine through twelve. Private schools in the area include the Khabele School and the Austin School for Performing Arts.

The city of Austin is rich in history. European settlers are known to have been in the area since the 1700s, while much of the state’s history revolves around the city of Austin. As the city has grown over the years, the number and variety of downtown condos has grown as well. Units within the downtown area range from those converted from office buildings from the 1940s to those that are brand new and currently being built. Those units located in older buildings have been expertly updated and converted to offer modern space and amenities. With the heavy development regularly taking place in the downtown area, Austin’s skyline seems to change on a monthly basis.
