If you decide to visit Austin or if you plan to make Austin your city of residence, you will certainly want to know about all of your transportation options.  Since Austin is such a large city, you will be happy to learn that there are numerous transportation options available in the Austin area.

The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is located near Texas 71 East and U.S. 183 South.  Here, you can catch a plane to nearly almost any destination in the world.  There are also plenty of airline carriers available at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  These include:

  • Aeromexico
  • American Airlines
  • American West
  • Continental Airlines
  • Delta Air Lines
  • Express Jet Airlines
  • Funjet Vacations
  • JetBlue Airways
  • Northwest Airlines
  • Southwest Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • US Airways

There is a great deal of parking available at the airport.  For example, you can choose to park in a covered space at the Airport Fast Park, from which you will also receive a ride to the airport.  You can also park in uncovered or covered spaces at the airport, where you can also receive a ride to the terminal.  With the Parking Express area, you can also park in a covered or uncovered space and will receive a ride to the airport.  Another option is valet parking, though it will cost a bit more than your other options.

If you don’t want to drive to the airport, you can take advantage of the Airport Shuttle Service instead.  This service, which is called SuperShuttle, will pick you up from a variety of locations in the Austin area.  These include locations within the city as well as at Cedar Parks, Round Rock, Leander, Pflugerville, Lakeway, and Georgetown.  The total cost for this service depends upon how far you travel.

By Bus, Taxi, or Train

If you just need help getting around within the Austin area, you can choose to use a bus, a taxi, or the train.  When it comes to bussing, you can choose between the Capital Metro system, the Capital Area Rural Transportation System, or Greyhound Bus Lines.  The Capital Metro system services Austin, Lago Vista, Leander, Jonestown, and Manor.  The Capital Area Rural Transportation system, on the other hand, serves Blanco, Bastrop, Caldwell, Burnet, Hays, Fayette, Travis, Lee, and Williamson counties.

You also have three taxi services to select from, including Ace Taxi, Austin Cab Co., and Yellow Cab Co.  Trans services are provided by Amtrak.
