Exploring Austin's Landmarks

Austin is home to a great variety of cultural and natural opportunities.  From magnificent natural landforms to man made attractions, Austin is a great place to learn about history an science while still having a good time.


The Candle Factory

Learn how candles are made at The Candle Factory.  Here, guests can watch as basket candles and satin-finished tapers are created.

Historic Georgetown

The nearby historic Georgetown is one of only nationally registered historic districts.  The Georgetown History and Visitor Information Center provides detailed information of the district’s history and sites.

The Chisholm Trail

The historic Chisholm Trail features eight different buildings that all date back to before the Civil War.  In addition, these homes are all part of the cattle-drive trail.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Natural Bridge Caverns consist of a 60 foot limestone bride that runs across the entrance.  Visitors can enjoy the Adventure Tour, which is quite challenging and requires getting dressed in caving gear and crawling through rooms in the cavern that are still undeveloped. 

Zilker Park

Zilker Park is located downtown and features a spring-fed swimming pool as well as Barton Springs.  It also offers a hillside theater, a miniature train, a playground, and picnicking opportunities.

Landa Park

Visitors can get closer to nature one of the many walking/jogging trails at Landa Park.  Or, they can test their skills on the miniature golf course, take a ride in a miniature train, take a trip on the water in a paddle boat, or enjoy some fun at one of the playgrounds.

WonderWorld

WonderWorld is a great place to learn about science in fun and exciting ways.  Here, guests can explore a cave, an antigravity room, and a wildlife park.  Or, they can take a ride on a miniature train.

Round Rock Roller Rink

Those looking to have good, clean fun might want to visit the Round Rock Roller Rink.  Here, a Christian music night is featured every week for roller skaters.  Adult hockey nights are also available.

There are many cultural opportunities available in the Austin area, ranging from those that mix roller skating with fun to those that allow for further exploration into nature and history.
