Enjoy the City Life in Austin

If city living is something you absolutely adore, you will be happy with all that the city of Austin has to offer.  Here is a look at some of the great cultural experiences and other fun that is available in Austin so you can have a good time no matter what day it is!

  • Take a walk down Guadalupe Street, which is known as The Drag, and visit the many shops and interesting parlors
  • Check out art at the Huntington Art Museum, which houses the Mari-Jmes Michener Collection of rare 20th century art
  • Pay a visit to the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection, which is home to more than 630,000 periodicals, maps, books, pamphlets and more
  • Take a look at the Moonlight Towers lights, which are 165 feet tall – Austin is the only city in the world to still use this unique lighting system
  • Visit one of the many award winning wineries in the area
  • Visit one of the many different art galleries located throughout the city
  • Take a tour of the George Washington Carver Museum, which is the first neighborhood museum in Austin to promote African American heritage
  • See a taping of the show Austin City Limits
  • Enjoy a live performance at the Austin Symphony
  • Watch a live band at one of the many local venues and find out why Austin is know as the Live Music Capitol World – there is a performance every night of the week
  • Get a laugh at one of the many comedy clubs in Austin
  • Go on a beer tasting excursion at the many brewpubs, all of which are in walking distance from each other
  • Take in a performance at Ballet Austin
  • Visit the Elisabet Ney Museum and see the studio and artwork of the first eminent sculptor in Texas
  • Enjoy a refreshing brew at Scholz Garten, which is the oldest German Bier garten in Texas
  • Visit the Laguna Gloria Art Museum and enjoy the many changing exhibits of American art
  • Get your feet moving at one of the many country-western dance halls, including The Lumber Yard, The Broken Spoke, and Dance Across Texas
  • Enjoy horse racing at Manor Downs
  • Take in a play at one of the 50 theaters in the area
  • Watch a collegiate sporting event at the University of Texas
  • Take a tour of the Celis Brewery, which brews beer in the same way it has been done in Belgium for centuries
  • Enjoy a performance at the Austin Lyric Opera
  • Visit one of Austin’s many jazz clubs, including Cedar Street, Elephant Room, St. Top of the Marc, and Jazz on 6th.
  • Enjoy live Blues performances at Antone’s Night club
