The highly anticipated Austonian and Four Seasons Residences Austin condos are finally ready to open their doors to their new residents. After being under construction for the past two years, the high-profile condos are already having a major impact on the Austin skyline and are sure to be the start of a trend that will transform the downtown skyline for years to come.

The 32-story Four Seasons opened its doors to the first residents in June. With 435,000 square feet of luxury space featuring 148 condos, the new building is located right next to the Four Seasons hotel on 98 San Jacinto Boulevard. The 32nd floor, which is home to an amenities deck, features a sundeck, a pool, a party room, a fitness center, a resident library and a catering kitchen. Residents also have access to a number of other amenities, including in-room dining, valet parking, housekeeping, 24 hour concierge and daily linen service.

With units ranging in price from $400,000 to $4 million, 55% of the units within the Four Seasons condo have already sold since its development was first announced two years ago. Owned by Post Properties Inc., the building was designed by Michael Graves and took $125 million to complete.

Residents of the Austonian, which is located at the corner of Second Street and Congress Avenue, also started to move into their new homes in June. Designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects and developed by Grupo Villar Mir, the new development is currently considered to be the tallest residential condo building west of the Mississippi River. Costing $250 million to complete, the new development is 56 stories tall and features 188 units.  Just as with the Four Seasons Residences Austin, the development was started two years ago.

Despite all of the attention that these two developments have received, they are not the only major condo projects to be opening their doors this year in the downtown area.  In fact, the $295 million W Hotel & Residences is slated to open this December. The 35,000 square foot, 36-story building will be home to 165 condos, 252 hotel rooms, retail space, restaurant space and even a new theater that is slated to host KLRU’s Austin City Limits on Second Street.
